KIDS MANAGING CONFLICT, SOUTHERN CALIFORNIA MEDIATION ASSOCIATION (SCMA)

 

Kids Managing Conflict, SCMA Education Foundation is a 501 (c)(3) and the charitable and educational arm of the Southern California Mediation Association (SCMA).  We are honored to be a part of SCMA which is the premier professional society for mediators in California.

Kids Managing Conflict is and advocate for, and committed to the development of effective communication skills with an emphasis on conflict resolution through Peer Mediation.  These skills are, a necessary requirement to successfully manage the complexity of situations and relationships of students at school.  We believe that training in effective communication skills should begin at an early age, ideally no later than middle and high school development.  Peer Mediation training gives young adults the confidence and skills to manage daily disagreements while developing resilience to recover from disputes and mend relationships.  These skills can then be taken into all areas of life.

The KMC Mission

The mission of the Foundation is to support and promote programs in K-12 schools that teach students conflict management skills to enrich their lives into adulthood.  To further this mission we raise and distribute funds as well as serve as a resource for those seeking networks and information on conflict resolution for all schools K-12.

 

The KMC Vision

Our vision is to build a more harmonious society by advocating for and fostering the development of tomorrow’s leaders who will choose methods of non-confrontational conflict resolution.
